Similar to our time in Grand Tetons, I'm going to just provide highlights of our 10 days in Yellowstone. We spent the 05-06June & 09-17June in Yellowstone National Park. During our time there we visited a lot of the big sites, went wildlife searching, and did some hiking. We stayed throughout the park, jumping campsites: Canyon Village, Bay Village, Grant Village, Madison Village, and Indian Creek.
Site Highlights
Mud Volcano & Sulphur Caldron
Here we got to see buffalo right next to the thermal features which was extra cool (upper left)
Grand Canyon of Yellowstone (upper right)
West Thumb Geyser Basin
Black Sand & Biscuit Basins
Old Faithful & Upper Geyser Basin
Saw Old Faithful erupt four times (second row, right)
Waited 3 hrs and failed to see Grand Geyser
Small eruption from Grotto Geyser (second row, middle)
Saw Daisy Geyser erupt
Mammoth Hot Springs (second to last row & last row left)
Yellowstone Lake (bottom right)
In general the thermophiles in the thermal areas was some of the coolest with all the natural colors they provide in the hot spring areas (second row left & third row)
Hikes:
Lone Star Geyser (top left)
This one was fantastic. It was quiet, with zero other people on the trail. And when we reached the geyser it was erupting, so cool!
Fairy Falls & Grand Prismatic Overlook (top right & bottom right)
Artist Point to Sublime Point (bottom left)
Natural Bridge Trail (bottom middle)
Mary Mountain Trail
We didn't make it far here before it become a complete swamp and we turned around. It seemed like it would be a very pretty hike though (no pictures)
Bighorn Pass Trail
This was near Indian Creek Campsite and was super beautiful and peaceful (no pictures)
Wildlife Sightings: We really tried to spot some Grizzlies and Wolves but failed. We got up early and stayed out late multiple days at Hayden and Lamar Valley with very little luck. We did manage to see the following:
Lots of Elk
Black Bears (on four different occasions)
A Moose
Pronghorn
Eagles
Pelicans
Lots of Bison & baby bison
Even got to see Bison grazing at our Bridge Bay campsite
Marmots
Some of these I stole from Justin
Looks amazing!
